I just bought the Yamaha RX-V679 from a garage sale. It works fine but I cannot figure our where to connect the turntable! It doesn’t have PHONO inputs as far as I can tell. Where do I connect the turntable? That sounds like a ridiculous question. Thanks.
As you probably know, Mark, the output level from a turntable (phono-level) is considerably lower than the output from more modern inventions like CD players (line-level). It will also expect special equalisation to RIAA standards. Some turntables may already provide the required pre-amplification and equalisation and deliver line-level output. If yours doesn’t and there’s no phono input on your power amplfier you’re going to need a phono pre-amp between the turntable and the amplifier. These start on Amazon for about £15 (or around £5 on AliExpress). But as this is the audio market you can pay as much as you like!
